About the author

Lou Cripps spent three decades at the Regional Transportation District in Denver, Colorado, starting in light rail maintenance and later leading its Asset Management Division. He is now an Expert Asset Management Consultant at Jacobs, a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management and co-author, with Ruth Wallsgrove, of Building an Asset Management Team and Legacy: A Decision-Maker's Guide to Infrastructure. He has contributed to US transit asset management policy, guidance and education, and to the Institute of Asset Management's Subject Specific Guidelines.

He and his family are building Forrest Hollow Farm in West Tennessee. The Farm Operating System grew out of that work: the same questions, asked of a well, a fence line and a tractor.

"Asset management is the same discipline whether the asset is a rail line worth nine figures or a well pump worth four hundred dollars. Know what you have. Know why you have it. Understand its condition and risk. Decide what matters most. Act on that decision. Record what happened so the next decision is better than the last one."

What I will not do

I accept no free products, take no affiliate commissions, and do not review gear I have not used. The book and this site carry no sponsored content.

What I will ask instead

If this work helps you, the honest exchange is to buy the book, the binder, or the templates when they are ready. Enough is the goal: if this work pays for itself, more of it can stay free.
